I decided a few years ago that crypto-currencies must be some kind scam, but there seems to be an appetite for some alternate to national currencies, and that got me to thinking: what if you could develop a currency scheme that helped the economy deal with the problem of unpriced negative externalities. I work in the renewable energy industry, and so I'm particularly interested in decarbonizing our energy systems. I had an idea that I summarized here:
